Kimberly Suraj, Founder, Dragonfly Nutrition

From an early age, I recognized the significance of health and fitness in my life. I actively participated in aerobics and various sports, finding joy in maintaining an active lifestyle.

My interest in nutrition and healthy eating deepened when I observed my grandmother's battle with Type 1 Diabetes.

In my quest to understand how to prevent low blood sugar levels, I frequently encountered the importance of "diet management."

This experience motivated me to pursue a career in Nutrition and Dietetics, with the goal of helping individuals manage and prevent chronic diseases such as diabetes,  heart disease etc, providing medical nutrition therapy for children with epilepsy, and supporting weight management efforts.

I earned a Bachelor’s degree in Human Nutrition and Dietetics in 2009, followed by a post-graduate diploma in Institutional Community Nutrition and Dietetics from the University of the West Indies in Trinidad and Tobago, and a post-graduate Diabetes Educator Certificate from The Michener Institute for Applied Health Sciences in Canada.

Additionally, I specialize in digestive health and wellness, as well as managing ketogenic diets for children with epilepsy.

I am registered with The Council for Health Professionals Related to Medicine, holding Registration Number 676.

Currently, I work at NCRHA while also managing a part-time private practice at various locations, including offices in Trincity and Caroni Savannah Road, Chaguanas.

I offer services for Corporate health, house visits, and virtual consultations.

I have also written nutrition education articles for Heartline News, Diabetes Association of Trinidad and Tobago Magazine, Trinidad Guardian, Trinidad Express, and Catholic News TT Newspaper. I have worked in a variety of capacities as a Registered Dietitian (RD), including in the areas of cardiology, pediatrics, medicine, surgery, intensive care, eating disorders, oncology and diabetes units.
